Liverpool have been eyeing a marquee signing throughout this summer's market with the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Willian linked to the Anfield side but both eventually joined Dortmund and Chelsea respectively.
Now they are to try and tempt Yarmolenko into a move during the last days of the window. But they will face competition from many teams for the 23 year-old, most notably from AC Milan.
Milan could now have the money to up their initial bid of £17m after qualifying for the Champions League and also the lure of the premier European competition would swing in their favour as well.
Yarmolenko is tipped for a big future and he could replicate the career of heroic figure Andriy Shevchenko who moved to Milan from Kyiv in 1999.
